28th Annual Partnership Dinner and Auction

Covering all the Bases: A Night with Reid Ryan

Reid Ryan, the President of last year's World Series Champion Houston Astros! Reid was one of the driving forces behind the start and operations of the Round Rock Express before moving on to the Astros where he helped lead the team to its first World Series title. Named the club's President of Business Operations on May 17, 2013, Reid Ryan is one of the youngest team presidents in the game. He brings enthusiasm and energy to the organization, while also providing a wealth of experience working in professional baseball. Reid will be speaking about his history and how he managed to move into the highest of echelons in this nation's favorite pastime. From growing up with a world-famous father, Nolan Ryan, to permanently changing the sporting landscape of central Texas, to leading the Astros to the Promised Land - Reid has a fascinating story to tell.

Reid Ryan enters his seventh season with the 2018 AL West and 2017 World Champion Astros after being named the club's President of Business Operations on May 17, 2013. Reid, 47, brings enthusiasm and energy to the organization while also providing a wealth of experience working in professional baseball. From day one, Reid has emphasized the importance of the fan experience and has made it a personal mission to openly engage with the Astros fan base. At nearly every home game, Reid can be found in the stands speaking with Astros fans. Reid proudly supports the efforts of the Astros Foundation and the Community Leaders program, which won the 2017 Allan H. Selig Award for Philanthropic Excellence, Major League Baseball's highest community-focused honor. Whether he's in the ballpark on game days, at one of the Astros Community Leaders ballparks or finding new ways to make Minute Maid Park one of the top destinations in baseball, Reid takes pride in being an active member of the Houston community. Reid's history with Texas baseball goes back decades. During the 1980s, Reid was a bat boy for the Astros while his father and Hall of Famer Nolan was an All-Star pitcher in the Astrodome. He later pitched at the University of Texas and TCU, playing a part in two Southwest Conference Titles (Texas 91, TCU 94). Reid went on to pitch in the minor leagues for two seasons (1994-95) in the Rangers system after being selected in the 17th round of the June 1994 Draft.
